Driver Training in Arbroath
The first step to learning to drive is to obtain a provisional licence. You can do this from the age of 16, but you will only be able to ride a motorcycle. From 17 you can start to learn in a car.
Part of the process of learning to drive is understanding theory. The theory test is currently 50 questions of which 43 must be correct. In addition there is a hazard perception test which involves watching 14 pre recorded video clips which contains 15 hazards. You need to identify these hazards and currently (May 2008) the pass score is 44 out of 75.
There is a lot to learn when you set out to obtain a driving licence. What is most important is that you realise that you have a responsibiltity when in control of a vehicle that is powerful and can cause injury and death if handled incorrectly. Within the text of this post are sections taken from The Driving Syllabus, The Theory Test, Driving Skills and Show Me Tell Me questions.
Syllabus Element:- Controls and Instruments - To be in control of your car or vehicle you need to be familiar with the controls and instruments. Indicators, light switches, wipers etc. are all controls you need to know how to use together with such items as fog lights, rear window heater etc. Good drivers are those that know all about their vehicle.
You can be assured that 2Pass.eu Driving School do not use trainee instructors, all our instructors are fully qualified.
Driving Skill:- Can you drive with reasonable restraint without being hesitant? Is your judgement of speed and distance accurate? These are skills a good driver possesses.
An example of a hazard may be a bus stopping at a bus stop. You have to be observant for pedestrians trying to cross the road.
Examples of hazards could be - Hidden Road Junctions - Vehicles changing/merging lanes - Pedestrians exiting vehicles.
RANDOM THEORY QUESTION
As a driver what does the term 'BLIND SPOT' mean? Choose one of the following.
a) An area covered by your right-hand mirror.
b) An area not covered by your headlamps.
c) An area covered by your left-hand mirror.
d) An area not seen in your mirrors.
Answer - d.
Hazardous situations could be - Pedestrians crossing the road - Cyclists - Weather Conditions - Meeting oncoming vehicles (country lanes, narrow roads)
What is the Hazard Perception Test? The Hazard Perception Test (HPT) became part of the Theory Test in 2002, it makes up the second half of your theory test and involves watching a series of video clips and clicking the mouse when a hazard is identified.
Show Me Tell Me Question:- Tell me how you would check the tyres to show that they have sufficient tread depth and that their general condition is safe to use on the road. Answer - A safe tyre will have no cuts or bulges. The tread depth should be at least 1.6mm across the central 3/4s of the breadth of the tyre and around the entire outer circumference.
To do well you need determination and the correct attitude, add this to plenty of practise and the outcome is success!
