2Pass.eu Driving School and BioDiesel

Apart from the cost of the car, fuel is the next greatest expense.

In order to run your car you need to fill up the tank with expensive fuel. In my case it is diesel as I have been using diesel cars for many years.

2Pass.eu Driving School is a venture I am involved with together with two colleagues one of whom is a programmer and software developer, the other a businessman with various interests.

Over the past few months I have been taking a serious interest in BioDiesel which is a by product of vegetable oil. If you are interested to know more do a search on BioDiesel, there is masses of information.

The importance to me and 2Pass.eu Driving School is to be in more control of one of the greatest expenses of running our cars.

In a couple of weeks time, early July 2008, we are taking delivery of a processing unit that is capable of making biodiesel. Initially I will house the biodiesel processor in a garage with a view to moving it to a unit in Dundee.

The importance to 2Pass.eu Driving School is that having the capacity to produce our own fuel will enable us to remain competitive with our driving lesson prices. Obviously this only applies if our driving instructors are driving diesel cars.

After we have taken delivery of the biodiesel processor I will provide an update. In order to ensure that the update is accurate I will probably delay it by a few months to allow time to become comfortable with the processor and the methods employed in converting vegetable oil into diesel.

Dundee Driving School

From the age of 16 you can have a provisional licence and can learn on a motorcycle. In order to learn in a car, at present you need to have reached 17.

Below, I list some of the items from the driving syllabus.

Syllabus element:- Moving Off - When moving off from the side of a road it is important to Prepare the car, Observe all around you, Move off if it is safe to do so once you have checked your blind spot.

Syllabus Element:- Controls and Instruments - To be in control of your car or vehicle you need to be familiar with the controls and instruments. Indicators, light switches, wipers etc. are all controls you need to know how to use together with such items as fog lights, rear window heater etc. Good drivers are those that know all about their vehicle.

Syllabus Element:- Cockpit Drill - When learning to drive it is most important that you know how to set up the car in order that you are seated comfortably and can reach and see all of the controls.

Syllabus element:- Meeting Other Traffic - If there is an obstruction on your side of the road or not enough room for two vehicles to pass safely, be prepared to wait and let approaching vehicle through. When you turn right across the path of an approaching vehicle, make sure you can do so safely. Be careful not to cause other road users to slow down, stop or swerve to avoid you.

Syllabus Element:- Moving Off On A Hill - Similar to moving off from the side of a road with the addition of sufficient power to prevent the vehicle rolling back when the handbrake is released. So the procedure would be to Prepare the car by ensuring correct gear selected and power applied, Observe all around you including blind spot, finally, release hand brake and Move off.

Syllabus Element:- Stopping - Any change of speed or direction requires that you observe the MSM routine. M stands for Mirror or mirrors, S stands for signal if required, the second M stands for the Manouevre you are to carry out. So if for example you are required to pull over you should check your interior and left mirrors, signal left, move to the left side of the road and brake to a smooth halt.

2Pass.eu Driving School combines driving instructors from around the country, many of whom have several years of experience.

Dundee will have one or more 2Pass.eu Driving Instructors starting from 1st January 2009.

A good driver needs to possess many things which can be broken down into a few categories. Knowledge of Theory, an understanding of the Driving Skills you need to acquire, and appreciation of the Driving Syllabus and ability to carry out all that these require. Included in this article are random extracts from the Theory Test, Show Me Tell Me questions, Driving Syllabus and Driving Skills.

Driving Skill:- Can you drive with reasonable restraint without being hesitant? Is your judgement of speed and distance accurate? These are skills a good driver possesses.

Show Me Tell Me Question:- Show me how you would check the parking brake for excessive wear. Answer - Apply the parking brake. When it is fully applied it should secure itself.

The pilot scheme for 2Pass.eu Driving School went live on 1st June, 2008.

For the next 7 months I will be carrying on my normal role as a Driving Instructor whilst putting to the test the methods we are incorporating into 2Pass.eu Driving School.

2Pass.eu Driving School is an association between me, C J Giel, Colin Edwards and Doug Barker.

Colin is a programmer and developer and it is his task to develop the 2 Pass website which we will put live sometime early in 2009. Currently we are running a blog which is building on a daily basis. The website however will contain many features and benefits for both learner drivers and driving instructors alike.

Doug is many things but one thing he does very well is run a motorcycle training operation that covers a large area in Scotland. His role within 2Pass.eu Driving School is varied but includes integrating motorcycle training with driving instruction.

My role is also varied, from contributing content to websites that promote 2Pass.eu Driving School to physically conducting day to day driving instruction for learner drivers.

Over the coming months, Colin, Doug and I will meet regularly to discuss progress and I will keep you informed of where we stand and if we are likely to be in a position to launch our 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise during the early part of 2009.

One of the key factors is the development of certain functions that the website must be able to process. The good news on this front is that I recently got a message from Colin informing me that he was making good progress. So fingers crossed!!!
Recollections Of A Driving Instructor

Readers of this blog will be aware that we have recently started a new Driving School. The Driving School is called 2Pass.eu and there is a 2Pass.eu Blog at http:www.2Pass.eu.

Over the past nine years I have had many interesting, sometimes humorous, experiences.

In order to make the 2Pass.eu website interesting I have included a Category on it titled 'Recollections' and here I will record some of my experiences of the past 9 years.

As we grow I will invite other driving instructors to relate their experiences.

Whilst there is a fun element to 'Recollections' there will also no doubt be some experiences which can be learnt from.

This short post on Recollections is brought to you by Tipsfest.

Learning To Drive In Dundee

I have been a Driving Instructor for the past 9 years during which time I have witnessed many changes on British roads. Unfortunately, in most cases not for the better!

The standard of driving in general in Britain is good but it could be so much better.

What amazes me is that the cars we drive are M O T tested every year once the car is older than three years but the driver of the car is never re-tested unless due to loss of licence for whatever reason.

Recently colleagues and I started a new Driving School In Dundee which, as we intend to grow the business, we have called '2Pass.eu' which hopefully people seeing our advertising will read as '2 Pass you' which fits in very nicely as we own the domain name - http://www.2pass.eu

It is my belief that the .eu suffix for domains in europe will outgrow .co.uk

One of my colleagues is a programmer and developer and it is his task to develop a killer website that will enable us to run 2Pass.eu as an Online Driving School Business. Until then I will provide limited information via a blog.

Horse Racing Tips and General Info

A lot of action today with horse racing at Ascot, Downpatrick, Haydock, Hexham, Lingfield, Nottingham, Thirsk and Warwick.

At Lingfield the feature race is the 15.10 where Curtain Call is a warm order with many horse racing tips services selecting him. There are already eight of the tips services that we cover that have selected Curtain Call as their horse racing tip. Jamie Spencer, Mark Winstanley, Mike Cattermole, David Milnes, Professional Whispers, Sir Clement Freud, Templegate and Tony Stafford. And it is only 9am!!!

Regular users of Tipsfest should be aware by now that Tipsfest is more than a horse racing tips relay service, we now provide information on anything and eventually everything will be covered. It will probably take a couple of years to reach the point that you can find information on any subject, but that is our aim.

In order to continue providing a horse racing service we have set up two websites. Horse Racing Scene UK is for general information and we post horse racing tips to our membership advertising portal website which is SiteCellar.

If you have yet to join SiteCellar click on Advertising Portal, the free membership registration form is at the bottom of the page.

Choosing A Driving School

With the latest proposals on learning to drive in the UK, choosing the correct driving school is more important now than ever.

When learning anything, it is good to know that your teacher is properly qualified and competent at passing on to you the information you are required to know.

For this reason only fully qualified DSA registered driving instructors will represent 2Pass Driving School.

At present only new drivers looking for driving schools in Dundee will be catered for. However, as 2Pass grows over the coming year, it is our intention to broaden our horizons and move into additional areas.

Whilst the purpose of this article is to provide information on Dundee Driving Schools I will use this opportunity to inform past members of Tipsfest that the previous services that Tipsfest provided are finished.

We still provide horse racing information via a couple of websites, but Tipsfest as was is now finished.
